Are all Wie Magie products vegan and cruelty free? How do you know your suppliers aren’t testing on animals?
YES! All my products are vegan AND cruelty free. I care about this deeply and if I cannot verify my suppliers are cruelty free via their own literature, I contact them to make sure.
Where do you get your ingredients?
I source from major companies as well as small and indie businesses when possible. I love to buy directly from the farm, producer, or maker but if I must purchase through a distributor, I choose companies who have a reputation to protect. All the essential oils I use are grown without pesticides, synthetic chemicals, herbicides, gmo's, harmful chemicals or fertilizers. I will never purchase cheap products from suspect suppliers, no matter what their claims are. Saving a dime is not worth putting old or adulterated ingredients in my bottle and on your skin. I want you to be healthier, and safer when it comes to your beauty choices.
Are your products recommended for sensitive skin?
Oh yes. You might find that the culprit behind the burning and itching your face feels when using certain products is the preservative. Products containing water must be preserved to inhibit bacterial growth. If you have sensitive skin, you might just need to avoid preservatives.
Do your products contain synthetic fragrances? What about parabens? Preservatives?
No, no, and no. The lovely scents in my products are from pure essential oils and the natural scent of the plant ingredients used. Nothing synthetic is ever used. I’m all about the whole plant, so in addition to the actual plants in my face masks, the plant oils I use in my serums have also been cleanly produced (solvents don't just disappear when we're done with them). There are also no parabens in my ingredients or finished products. I don’t like preservatives, so I avoid water. It’s that easy to get around using them, which is why I offer serums and not creams, and sell face masks in powdered form.
What kind of quality can I expect from your ingredients?
I don't buy cheap ingredients, and if it is practical financially, I will buy certified organic every time. But not to worry - none of my ingredients are conventionally grown. For example, lavender is naturally bug resistant. It does not require pesticides to grow, so I don't buy the certified organic version, which would raise the product cost. However, roses are more vulnerable, so I’ll pay extra for the certified organic roses petals because I truly believe this is a scenario that's worth it. If an ingredient I use is not certified organic, it is wildcrafted or grown without the use of pesticides.
Your ingredient lists are pretty short. Why don’t you put more stuff in your stuff?
Keeping it simple is kind of my thing. I believe in getting the full benefit from few as opposed to minimal benefit from many. If you want to go crazy and get lots of ingredients at once, mix some of my products. It’s not unheard of for me to sport a face mask that was mixed with the last little bit of three different jars. My serums play well together if you want to mix them or add them to a moisturizer you love from a different brand.
Are all the ingredients listed in the product descriptions?
Absolutely! There are no hidden ingredients, no undisclosed use of solvents like hexane (because I don't use solvent extracted oils at all), no preservatives, and nothing disguised.
What if I don’t like it?
I don’t think that’s going to happen. So I don’t have a problem with giving you a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don’t like one of your products, contact me. I’m happy to refund or replace items you don’t like. Seriously.
Is your company zero waste?
Wie Magie produces very little waste, but I can’t claim zero just yet. I am mindful of waste and do recycle shipping supplies, so if you ever get bubble wrap in a package, I didn’t buy it, I’m just trying to not throw it away. The packing tape I use is either paper or it's plant derived. Both are renewable, and biodegradable - even the clear stuff (seriously!). I request compostable shipping materials in packages from suppliers. All the containers I use are glass. When I wrap your packages for shipment it’s with paper (which is made from recycled paper). Please recycle, compost, and reuse everything you can.
I’m a beauty blogger. Do you do collaborations?
Yes, but not very often. I get a lot of request for free products and I would grant every one if I could – this just isn’t a big enough company to do that yet.
